Last Saturday, Thomas and I, along with Jennifer (Thomas' sister), Jeremy (Her husband), Samuel (Thomas' Brother), Louie (Thomas' Dad), Doug (Jeremy's Dad), and Karen (Jeremy's Mom), went up to Yosemite for a day hike from Glacier Point to the Yosemite floor. We got up at 5:00am and drove to Yosemite. We caught an 8:30am one-way shuttle that goes from Yosemite Lodge up to glacier point. From there we hiked about 9 miles back to the Yosemite floor. It is an up and down trail (mostly down, obviously) that passes right next to half dome and through two beautiful waterfalls (Nevada Falls and Vernal Falls) toward the end. The last 3-3 1/2 miles of the hike is stepping down very steep little stone steps. At some points the steps were wet and slippery from the waterfall spray! The next day we were very sore from our adventurous day. Thomas has opted out of a few of my requests of running errands with me to avoid the stairs down from our apartment. Because of the pressure on your knees from walking downhill, Samuel kept saying, "Just use your hips" as he swung them back and forth. I took his advice and had sore hips for two days!
