Turkey Week

We had a great time in Utah last week being with my family for Thanksgiving. We got into town Wednesday afternoon and was able to hang out and relax for the evening. Thursday we had a football game at the school and a delicious Thanksgiving dinner. Check out the menu! Friday we went to a session at the Provo Temple and then to Salt lake. We went to temple square, the church history museum, and ate lunch at Hires. On the way home we stopped at the distrabution center and IKEA. That night we had our traditional Berry family Christmas- talant show and all! Saturday we hung out, cleaned up, and watched the BYU football game. It was a great week and so fun to see my family.

BOO.

Last weekend Thomas and I went to Hobbs grove with Jack and Heidi Shiner and had a blast! We went to the Haunted Forest and the Haunted House and got the crap scared out of us! Heidi and I knew we were going to be scared, but what was so hilarious was seeing two grown men screaming like little girls. Thomas started out all cool and collected (see picture on The Shiners blog) leading the way through our first scare in the haunted Forest but by the end of it he was grabbing on to me as tight (or even tighter) as I was grabbing on to him! Good Times.

Cumplido!!!

The table and chairs are finished at last! I had planned on working on this LITTLE project throughout the summer but then we decided to just buy new ones. After shopping around at the VERY END of summer, we decided our money would be better spent elsewhere =/. SO, I worked on them every weekend in September. SOOOOO happy to be done, just don't look at them too closely! ;)

Its Official

I finally got my diploma in the mail and found a beautiful mat and frame for it! Doesn't it look great?

CT Scan

Last Thursday I got my 2nd CT Scan. I had to drink 3 bottles of the nasty thick white substance:

One bottle the night before, one bottle an hour before, and one bottle a half hour before. I exercised my Berry reflexes after each and every sip of the drink. Yum. It tasted like orange flavored fuchi. Before I even got home, my pulmonologist had called and talked to Thomas and said everything looked good as far as he was concerned. My oncologist sent me a note also saying everything looks good with no change from before. Both doctors said I will need to do another follow up scan in 6 months. But, I think I am pretty much free and clear! YAY!

Good Times in Pismo

We had a great time camping at Pismo Beach a few weeks ago. Thomas and I were there with all the Durans (minus Marcos & Melody) for a long weekend Friday night through Monday. We had a blast going to the beach, eating at Splash Cafe, hanging out, going to see the tide pools at Montana De Oro, fishing off the pier (you can see my award winning catch below-pay no attention to my hair), going to the beach some more, hanging out some more, making s'mores, going golfing with the boys and Mica (Thomas) and going outlet shopping with the girls (Me). We forgot our camera so thanks to Jennifer and Jeremy for letting me steal some pics from the trip =)

Kel & Elle

We took a day trip to Monterey last Saturday to see Kelly (my old roommate and one of my best friends), Elle (her cute daughter), and Kelly’s family. They were on vacation for her grandparents 50th wedding anniversary at a beautiful condo on the beach. We had a nice time- we went out to lunch and played on the beach a little. It was their last day there so it was a short visit but it was so great to see her. We always have a lot of fun together. Thomas and I then drove down to Carmel and looked around in some cute little shops. Thomas especially loved it. Nice day.

Faith Hill/Tim McGraw Concert

I had a blast last week going to the Faith Hill & Tim McGraw Concert with some friends (Anna Enns, Tiffany Johnson, Tristen Johnson, & Tianna Russell). We went to eat first at Los Charritos #2 and then hitched a ride (thanks Thomas!) down the street to the concert. It was a last minute decision to go and we were way up in the nose-bleeds but it was so much fun. I just love going to concerts and always wonder why I don't go more...maybe it has something to do with living in Fresno?

Update on Me

I had my surgery on July 5th and everything went well. I went in at 6:30, spent 2 hours in surgery and was out by noon. She only took out a 2 inch diameter circle around the site (I thought it would be a lot more after my consultation appointment!) and down 4cms. The doctor said there is no reason to to believe the melanoma spread! The only concern from the CT scan was a "non-specific abnormality" found in my lungs. They think it was bronchitis but I will go back and get another CT scan in 3 months just to be sure. On Wednesday I had a body check and had a few more moles removed. Everyone PLEASE go to the dermatologist and get one for yourself! My back has been very sore but healing nicely- in fact, I just got my stitches out yesterday. My life is getting back to normal after being down for a couple weeks. The doctor did say no jogging for at least another 3 weeks...darn. Thank you all for your calls, cards, visits, flowers, etc., etc. and especially your prayers and fasting! And, thank you especially to my mom & dad who put their Europe trip on hold to come take care of me after my surgery!

Thomas is old!

Happy Birthday Thomas, I love you!!! I realize this is a little late, but Thomas had his 27TH birthday on June 29th. While it wasn't the best birthday, complete with doctors appointments and everything, we did get to celebrate it 3 times! He got some fun presents including, but not limited to, a recordable DVD player, a tire changing kit for the Avalanche, a fishing pole, and (my favorite) Seasons 1 & 2 of The Office. Go Jim & Pam!

(sigh) The Beach House

Last month I went with my family to our beloved beach house for our family reunion. The beach house belongs to my aunt and uncle who are so very nice to loan it out to family for a week during the summer. It is always SO much fun to be with everyone, just hanging out, getting a tan. We missed the Smyths (who are in Ireland), Jacob (who is working in Tennessee making $ for BYU in the fall), and Thomas (who also had to work). Below are some pictures from the week.

Go Glendora High!

Sarah Graduated! Last Wednesday I drove down to San Dimas to go to Sarah's (my niece) graduation. I left about 1pm, hit heavy traffic in Pasadena, and got there about 5:15. Just in time for all the important stuff! She and her two best friends had a fun party after at her house/The Jacobsons complete with yummy Mexican food and brightly colored tablecloths, napkins, utensils, etc. Then she was off to grad night at Disneyland and Catalina the next morning. I spent the night and woke up early the next morning to go home. It was a short but nice trip. Congratulations Sarah! I love you!

Yosemite Hike

Last Saturday, Thomas and I, along with Jennifer (Thomas' sister), Jeremy (Her husband), Samuel (Thomas' Brother), Louie (Thomas' Dad), Doug (Jeremy's Dad), and Karen (Jeremy's Mom), went up to Yosemite for a day hike from Glacier Point to the Yosemite floor. We got up at 5:00am and drove to Yosemite. We caught an 8:30am one-way shuttle that goes from Yosemite Lodge up to glacier point. From there we hiked about 9 miles back to the Yosemite floor. It is an up and down trail (mostly down, obviously) that passes right next to half dome and through two beautiful waterfalls (Nevada Falls and Vernal Falls) toward the end. The last 3-3 1/2 miles of the hike is stepping down very steep little stone steps. At some points the steps were wet and slippery from the waterfall spray! The next day we were very sore from our adventurous day. Thomas has opted out of a few of my requests of running errands with me to avoid the stairs down from our apartment. Because of the pressure on your knees from walking downhill, Samuel kept saying, "Just use your hips" as he swung them back and forth. I took his advice and had sore hips for two days!
